Colosseum Tour: 0945 (CEST) 6/7

To say it was a early morning was an understatement. We were up earlier then most of the country but that’s not hard. Getting up early has its advantages, 1- it’s nice and cool. 2- we can get a head start on that day before our tour starts.

We left the apartment at 7 (which in fairness isn’t that early but we were all feeling it). We headed towards the Metro to get to the Trevi first, we got to the Trevi Fountain at 7.30 ( it was pretty packed so everyone else tried to get in early as well). We got lots of great photos and then sat down to take in the views and appreciate it.

Next we headed to the Spanish steps, the maps took us on a long and convoluted way of getting there but once we did it was amazing. We checked the time and we need to start heading to the colosseum for our tour but we quickly popped into a Maccas to go to the bathroom (by far the fanciest Maccas ever, Mabel everywhere and Roman statues, AMAZING AIRCON TOO).

Once we were at the Colosseum, we found our tour group and had introductions in the group we headed towards the colosseum (which is unreal, so amazing and massive). We had the best tour guide by the name of Antoine (I think), he is an historical architect and was super informative. Once we got into the colosseum it didn’t even feel real it was honestly an amazing opportunity (apart from the death stairs).

Our tour consisted of more then just the colosseum but it was super hot and everyone’s feet were hurts (mostly mine) so we called it quits before the next part and found some shade to sit down in. While sitting down we made some American friends from California who thought we were British, they were super nice and wished us luck on the rest of our travels.

We headed back to the metro with a quick trip back to our terminal before walking back to the apartment stopping by Manny’s on the way  to grab a gelato. Once back up at the apartment, we had some lunch and a siesta before making sure all our bags were packed for an early departure the next morning.

We relaxed for a while in the aircon before heading out to a nice restaurant for dinner. I had Pasta Ragu, it was amazing! We stop at a little trinket shop on the way back then back to the apartment for some aircon, tv and showers before a late bedtime.
